Yellow needles from alc, mp 114-115°(slight decompn). Medicinal odor. uv max (ethanol): 316 nm (A1%1cm 170); min 280 nm. Practically insol in water. Soly (25° in ethanol 1.0 g/100 ml of soln; chloroform 5.0 g; acetone 4.0 g; ether 3.0 g; 0.1N NaOH 1.4 g. Also sol in benzene, glacial acetic acid. 
Hazard Toxicity: LD50 (rat, orl) 660 mg/kg.
